This trip to Northern Italy was the final part of a larger visit to Europe. It started with a Rhine River cruise, which included stops in the Netherlands, Germany, and France. Next were stops in Switzerland, which included a visit to the Jungfraujock and a ride on the scenic Bernina Express. The trip ended with visits to several cities in Northern Italy [this album]. Below are links to photo albums for the other portions of that larger trip.

Varenna & Bellagio

Aftera full week of river cruising I was looking forward to a couple days of R&R. Lake Como was the ideal place to do that. We stayed in Varenna and took a boat ride to Bellagio for lunch and a little sightseeing.

Padova

Padua was our next base of opperations. In addition to seeing parts of Padova, we also took day trips to Venice and Verona.

Venice

Even though I had been to Venice before, I felt that I got to see a wider range of it this visit. Sonia had been here several times. We bought a vaporetto day pass and mode good use of it.

Verona

We were using Padova as our base, so this was a day trip to explore Verona. Sonia had been here before. This was my first visit.

Heading home

After three weeks of travel, we were ready to be heading home. I wasn't sure which side of the plane I wanted to be on, but I knew I wanted to try to get a couple pictures of Venice from the air. I'm very please with my 'Venice fish' picture!
